Versatile Hydrangea quercifolia Gatsby Glow Ball® is a gift to gardeners and landscapers, its size and form inviting use in mixed borders, woodland gardens, low hedges, and large patio pots. This North American native produces a compact mound of broad, Oakleaf-style green leaves that are bedecked in summer with brilliant white, panicle-shaped, pollinator-pleasing flower heads. As the blossoms mature, they become suffused with a pistachio green color that seems to glow. In autumn, the foliage changes to burgundy-red, adding a final flourish. A Proven Winners®/Color Choice® variety. 'NCHQ1' PP 37,233
Hydrangea is a valuable genus of some 100 species of shrubs and vines grown for their large and very showy flower heads. Hydrangeas are at their best in summer and fall—a quiet time for most woody plants—and are worth having for that reason alone.
