Large rounds and stubborn firewood call for more weight behind the swing. The Prandi Merlin splitting maul carries a 6.61-pound wedge-shaped head that concentrates force into the wood and helps drive the split apart.
Its forged C43/C45 carbon steel head is paired with an American hickory handle measuring about 35.46 inches long, giving you the reach needed for strong two-handed swings. The hardened, polished edge is intended for demanding firewood and log-splitting chores. Made in Italy, this is a substantial tool for people who regularly process their own wood.
